One of India’s most prestigious hackathons, the Pragyan Hackathon, is back to unearth the region’s most innovative developers and entrepreneurs.
Organised by Pragyan, the techno-managerial college festival of NIT Trichy, this hackathon has been unrivalled in its ability to attract some of the best coding talent over its past four editions. It takes place over a gruelling 30-hour period over two days, and has been vastly successful in its quest to come up with novel solutions to today’s most pressing issues.
The Pragyan Hackathon 2019 will be conducted on the 19th and 20th of January at Visteon Software Operations, Chennai, and is open to all college students across the country. It is sponsored by Visteon, a leading automotive firm. Participants are free to form teams of up to three members and can choose from any of the three domains of problem statements that span a wide spectrum of disciplines.
The automotive industry has witnessed a slew of rapid technological breakthroughs over the past few years. Continuing this pace of development is the need of the hour, and participants are given an opportunity to be a part of it, by analysing vehicle data to come up with models to improve the infotainment and connectivity aspects of the automotive sector.
The Public Distribution System (PDS) in India has not yet achieved its full potential to completely alleviate poverty and hunger. Participants that opt for this domain are expected to come up with revolutionary proposals that ensure that the existing PDS in the country is made more secure and smart, thereby facilitating faster movement of essential food and non-food commodities to disadvantaged groups in the society.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) estimates the global population will reach the staggering figure of 9.6 billion by 2050. Feeding this population in a sustainable, cost-effective and environmentally friendly way is a matter of huge concern. Participants wishing to contest in this domain are expected to devise a smart agriculture system that integrates various types of agricultural data within the limits posed by the economy and environment.
With goodies and cash prizes worth INR 4,00,000 at stake, in addition to attractive internship opportunities and incubation of selected prototypes by pioneers in the field, this hackathon is an exciting platform for budding coders and entrepreneurs to hone their skills by coming up with unique solutions to existing problems.
