A city-based start up, Freshdesk, has roped in LinkedIn India’s Managing Director Nishant Rao, as its Chief Operating Officer. He will be responsible for all non research and development aspects of Freshdesk’s activities across each of its offices worldwide.

Freshdesk, in a statement, said Mr. Rao will begin his duties in November 2015. “I am very excited about going back to my entrepreneurial roots,” he was quoted as saying in the statement. Mr. Rao added, “With its fresh consumer approach to enterprise SaaS, I believe we can fundamentally transform the way all small and medium sized businesses worldwide interact with their customers.”

Apart from being the India Managing Director of the world’s largest professional network, Mr. Rao is currently the Chairman of the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and serves on the Advisory Board for the National Committee on Skill Development, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

“Nishant’s expertise in scaling operations across global markets makes him an excellent addition to Freshdesk’s executive team,” said Freshdesk’s founder and CEO Girish Mathrubootham.
