Ganesh Meenavalli and Hritik Saurya have become trendsetters of sorts. They will have the unique distinction of being part of the four-member team, the very first from India to compete in the US $ 5 lakh Major League Gaming World Finals in New Orleans (USA) from Oct. 16 to 18. Competitors from 130 countries are likely to take part in the ‘Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Tournament’. Interestingly, these two young Hyderabadis came to know about the online gaming through a post on Facebook, which suggested that someone from India could earn the right to play in the MLG Finals.

These two ninth standard classmates of Oakridge International School may have well also redefined parents’ attitude towards their kids if they are into online gaming. “I play only during weekends and for almost the whole day,” insists the 14-year-old Ganesh, also the captain.

“With my dad encouraging me, I have the liberty to plan out my academics and sessions in gaming,” says Ganesh, whose excellence in both is a delight to his parents. .
